Nassau
A Nassau is three bets, unless you are playing nine
On nine holes there is one bet: the low net total takes the stake from each other player. On eighteen holes there are three bets of the same stake: the front nine, the back nine, and the overall eighteen. A tie on a bet pushes. Nobody is paid for that piece.
Every pair has a match
With three or four players, each person plays each other person. If Ann beats Ben and Ben beats Cid, those are separate bets. The settle-up then cancels whatever it can, so Ben does not collect from Cid and also pay Ann when the amounts wash out. You see the smallest set of payments.
A press
A press is a new bet for the same stake. It starts on the hole you name and runs through the end of that nine. A press on 7 covers holes 7, 8, and 9. A press on 15 covers 15 through 18. It cannot start on the last hole of the nine, because there would be nothing left to play. Presses, and the back nine, are part of the $7 unlock. The free round is nine holes with no press.
Net score is gross minus the strokes the index gives you. Full handicap uses the number you type. A percent allowance rounds to the nearest whole number. Stroke index 1 gets the first stroke. A playing handicap past 18 gets a second stroke, starting again at index 1.
